    Water under paint?

Went to lift my boat this morning and noticed what I thought was a large scum line. After scrubbing and degreasing the paint is still discolored. The boat has been in the water two days, which I've done numerous times without issue. Best I can describe is it almost seems like moisture under the paint? My boat has auto paint on the sides and gel coat on the bottom, only the orange auto paint has been affected.

My question is has anybody seen this before? Is there anything that can be done to restore the original color?

    Thanks in advanced.

If it really is under the paint I think your screwed. If the paint is stained you may be able to rub it out with some rubbing compound.

Water under the paint causes blisters, so most likely it's just stained.

Thank you all for the input. I actually tried on&off and degreaser immediately upon noticing the "stain," neither worked. I have not yet tried anything with abrasion, but that may be my next step.

Any ideas as to what could have caused this, possibly oil or hydraulic fluid in the water?

Are the dark spots the bubbles usally bubbles under the paint means its coming from the back side it might have bondo in that area where water found a way in and now is swelling up and pushing on the paint kinda like filling a rust hole with bondo as the water absorbs in from the backside out comes the bubbles..

The dark areas look and feel like the unaffected areas. There is no blistering so I would agree, it probably is a stain which is definitely a relief.
Thanks again for all the input.

Worked on a test spot with some flitz paste, took a LOT of work, but showed signs of improvement, guess I will get some compound and that should do it. Thank you all for the advice.
