RJ, it's been a DECADE! Looks awesome though, will you be able to salvage all or most of the original gel?

I don't think I will be able to do that in a month, but I got a case of that as well now. I do have a buddy on my case as I told him last spring it would be on the water in 2018........BUT IT WILL BE ON THE WATER IN 2019!
FYI for anyone looking at doing this as well, here has been my resin consumption so far: 6 gallons (core and stringers 5 gallons - 1 gallon to set the floor and glass over the stringers). I am guessing another 2, maybe 3 gallons and that will be it.1973 Viper - sold

Another winning thread, looking good sir, mighty good. This pealply stuff Im not 100% sure I grasp whats different about it? Is it easier to install or just easier to add another layer or whats the deal?

It's easy to lay over wet epoxy and helps me flatten the glass and filler. Then I pull it off the next day when the epoxy has cured and it's ready for more glass and/or resin. No sanding.
Like on this application, I will leave it on and continue to work on other parts of the boat. It will be a cover and keep it clean, then when ready to glass over the floor I will pull it off and glass.

Great to see work getting done on this! Kinda cool how we can all motivate each other. I dig the color scheme, its almost the exact same as mine with the blue and silver reversed. They're truly a labor of love, my project was started in 2005, so don't feel bad about how long its been. With the floor in you're almost finished.

I gotcha now. So you have a layer of glass thats covered with some sort of parchment paper so you can work over it without getting soaked by your resin and you can peal it off after its cured? Sounds good to me, I am looking to make this process as easy as I can thanks for the explanation

Lakefever.....That material is peel ply. It is a specialty product for this use. No sanding needed. Parchment paper will leave a nice smooth surface but will have to be sanded before being glassed over as it is too smooth.

Good catch, my wording was quite poor in that last post ( lack of sleep ) but I do recognize the film/paper material is part of the peelply product of which I had read mention of in previous threads but wasn't sure until this one, what it is exactly. Its name sounds like peel and stick so I was cornfused a little. Is there any strength gains/losses to be had by using peelply over regular glass sheet?

Peelply is a protective layer of perforated film normally used with a vacuum bag or resin injection system. It does work well as a protective layer and when removed, gives a textured surface to apply glass right over after cure with good adhesion. As far as making glass stronger, no.
