Stock 225 promax takes Hydrostream YT +100 MPH
Last year a stock '81 Johnson 235 took my '86 Valero YT to 93 MPH. I've since rigged it with an original '97 225 promax with a sporty (1.75 gears). We took it out for the second run with this motor this past weekend and loaded it up with 80L of fuel and gear to go fishing for the day. Running a stock 32" lightning ET she went 96 MPH with two of us and 103 MPH solo on the limiter!!!! Wow what a rush!
I'm thrilled with how this thing is running and never EVER thought the 55 MPH, running on 5 cylinders, rotted boat I bought 3 years ago would ever go this fast. This is just too much fun!

The gauges are from SpeedHut.com
They have excellent customer service and great pricing. Every gauge is custom spec'd using their neat online tool where you get to visually design the gauge. They can also make them to suit basically any design.
In regards to the sporty I'm not sure if it was original to this particular promax or not but it is a 2.5, the gears are 1.75 and the casting denotes the same.
The fastest YT I've ever read of on here was 110 MPH some years ago with a SS3000 or something.... I dunno but it was a lot more than a stock promax. I'm sure its got a few more MPH in it yet with a different prop but this is quite fast enough for me for now.1989 21' Skater - twin 2.5s
