15 & 16 ft Allisons with fairings
I remember seeing two different Allisons with full fairings over the cockpits, Jeff_G had one and there was a black and gold one. Anyone have some good pics of these?

That was some record Jim...bad ass!
The boat was next owned by Tommy Parks in New Jersey, then sold to a friend of Bill Gohr's in IL...he still has it.
And you're right, it did look better blue and black.
Hope you're doing well.

I saw it at the Marine Stadium in blue and black. Caused a friend of mine who was with me to order a blue and black 16' that winter and set it up for Super V, without the cowling. When Super V didn't work out as a class, he raced it as a JP boat in '77.

Are there any other good pictures of these or other allisons that had fairings? I'm in the process of rebuilding a 15 now and was just toying with the idea - just curious what others have done.

I had Darris build a 2 tone blue 16 Allison that was the only one with a factory front and rear faring. It was only used with a V6 for drags and kilo runs. I sold it and was eventually run by Stevie Robertson in the APBA kilos at 106 mph or so. I built a second 16 about that time out of misc parts that was decked over. It was Mariner orange and gray with a Merc V6 and got me into the Evinrude 100 mph kilo club. The first APBA OPC V bottom to do that. After the class started to fade I sold the black and blue Allison"Just Right" that Jim Hunt ran to Frank White from NY and he sold it several years later. For the record the "Just Right" Allison was used in JP class before Jim Hunt and John McCall decked it over. And..last but not least, after I sold "Just Right" Mercury called and wanted to set a kilo record in that class because Ron Baker with an OMC held it. So I borrowed a 15 Allison and T-2 from friends and decked it over and went 700/800 miles to Kaukauna, Wisc. and with a Berghauer prop borrowed from Buck Thornton set the record at around 94mph. Never have so many people deserved credit for a record.

Jim I remember you bringing that hydrostream to JOC, it was yellow, that was after you ran a white Allison with I think blue stripes. must have been about 75 or so. Wilmer Atwell's boys are on here now over on the general forum mostly. hope all is well, maby see you at Taveres in November? was that a speedmaster lower on just right?

Gemini, thanks so much for sharing all that history. I love to see someone give credit where credit is due. Would all of that taken place around 1975 or so?
