    2.4 chrome bore Carb/Jetting questions use 1995 WHM16s?

I have a 2.4 powerhead I was given, chrome bore, 1987, d cuts in pistons. supposedly Land and Sea rods, cut exhaust chest and an expensive build ( traded it for a dead 3.4 cosworth I had)

I bought a manifold and reeds/carbs off ebay with WHM-16 carbs from a 95 2.5, the manifold has being machined to fit.

I am using a 150 from '83 for a donor motor, it has the 2 pc heads, so 145 compression, also using its exhaust plate and adapter, and a Bobs Tuner, and carb spacer plate.
    Bobs LWP 1.87 LU

Going to run it on a Sanger 20' Alley Cat true tunnel, like to spin is 6500-7000 or so.

The WHM16 carbs have 2.5 jets so .66

    Think I need .80 and 82 jets

Question: will the whm-16 work if I just jet them for the 1987 stock sizes?

Should I get something from to 1987 era for carbs, or will the whms work fine?

    Thanks, Dave

Try them with the factory jets...they are 200 hp 2.5 carbs so they should be pretty close. Jet size means nothing when comparing carbs of different era's b/c their design is totally different. XR6 150 carbs worked perfect on my 85' 2 liter with no jet changes....just a slight modification to make them fit on a vertical reed intake.

I think the stock jets will be way lean. 2.5 behind the liner motors are way more effient then 2.4 piston port motors. You can always start rich and go down from there. I personally like the wh series carbs a lot better. I would look for a set of 46s and jet 82/84 and go from there. My carb 2.5 with wh20 run 74 mains and will run away and hide from our bridge port 2.4 with same carbs running 94/96 mains. Point is 2.4s need more fuel to run. Jmpo. Good luck.
