prop shaft height with regards to specific types of lower units.....

    question:

on a sub 80 mph outboard powered v hull boat, will a standard side pickup lower unit net more top end speed than a cle, sportmaster, or bobs coned lower regardless of prop shaft height?

another way to ask the same question: even with the ability to raise the engine up to maximum level before losing water pressure and with plenty of setback will a 70 to 75 mph v hull be faster running standard lowers rather than a lwp lower such as the cle or sportmaster?

Depends on the blow out. Going to the other shapes sm cones get water back to the prop again.

Think matrix bullets. Instead of flowing over the foot water can no longer maintain contact eventually the prop is starved of water and spins free. A pointed cone reduces the deflection. same reAson supersonic stuff is pointed and subsonic round. Your water intake can also blowout. Why many go to the lwp.

The pointy ones can slow you down though sometimes. Don't know a hArd fast rule for it though. need someone who has your set up and tried.
