What did you do for your drain plug?

I used the old one in the front bulkhead and bought a new one for the rear but havent drilled the hole yet. It will be 1/2" higher due to me using 1" balsa in the pad instead of the original 1/2". Good eye on that observation

I am just contemplating what I am doing to mine. I am leaning to going with the new style that turns in and the plug doesn't come fully out. However it mounts with two screws and won't go all the way through the transom. I worry about water getting in there.

in my vking i am not glassing any wood in for the drain plug. i am going to build up glass and drill a hole. thats it. Riverman did that on his vector and looked real clean.

Rivermans viper. Sorry. Wrong boat referenced but same idea. Just make sure it thick enough so it can support the back of the pad like the block of wood would do. My vking was very thin there and will need a few layers to build that up a little

The next item im going to atempt is the rear deck. Im going with a complete custom deck with some curves. I dont like the look of a FLAT sheet of plywood for a splashwell delete like most folks do. So im doing a rear deck that will have 3 diffrent curves to it to really blend I to the Rest of Howards design. Question is... will 1/4' plywood with 1708 on both sides and 3/4" end grain balsa glassed on to it and caped with 1708 support the weight of a person standing on It?

Just balsa with the 1708 on each side would be strong enough.

It wont be flat on the 3 pieces either. Each one will be concave to match the rest of Hydrostreams distinctive curves
