Awesome thread thus far. Keep up the good work. I am so excited because I get to bring my Hydrostreams, Vector and Vking that is has the donor Black Max, down from Michigan to my new home in KY. They have been sitting for almost a couple years now due to me having surgery and then moving. I can't wait to be able to work on the thing at my house in the down time. Seems like it goes pretty fast once you get into it.

Not as fast as I want it to. Because I got married 6 months ago and moved into her house and and moving out of mine so the boat is in my dads shop 20 miles away and therfore I cant just tinker with it for a 1/2 hour or so like I want. I have to make it a plan to go there and arange time to mess with it.

I come across another fuel tand real cheep. Its a 24 gallon belly tank so it has a V in the bottom of it. It is much smaller in dimentions than my 28 shown in the pics. Would it work well in this Viking if I mounted it up in the bow area? Im wondering if it would be better to have the fuel weight up front and free up the rear of weight and space.whats yalls opinion of a bow fuel tank?

Too much weight in the bow, in my opinion. Hard to prop for the weight, because it is changing as you burn fuel.

I ran with 2 six gallon tanks lined up behind the front passenger seat. When the one in front ran out, I would change its place with the other full tank.

My Viking only had the 2 front seats though.

Using a piece of 1/2" insalation sure is easier to make shape to the transom and hull than the actuall stringer itself for mock up

I glassed the bottom and sides of the stringers with 1708 and vinyl ester and beded them to the balsa core pad saterday and removed the weights today and very happy at the way it looks. Then cut a couple pieces of 3/4" ply for the drain hole and glassed em in.

Also ordered another 5 gallon bucket of 700 vinylester from us composits today. Only got about 1/2 gallon left and still need to do a couple more layers on the transom and stringers and the outter core and fabricate the whole rear deck and floor.

Got the stringers all glassed in. 2 layers of 1708 on them all. Is that enough? Gettn it wraped around the curved knees was a bit tricky.

When making the front "bulkhead" that caps the front of the stringers and floor should I have a hole for water to drain out of the floor foot area? If so wont any water that will be in the bildge area run forward when decelerating ? I havent seen any other pics of how this is made.

The cap in question is the one from port to starbort and is only about 4" tall.
