Has anyone raised the transom a couple inches while doing a splashwell delete? Im wanting to raise the whole splashwell area 2" - 3" and have the flat deck . I think it mite look pretty good instead of having a jack plate cranked up so much.

    Thoughts ???????

That doesn't sound like a bad idea since my jack plate is all the way up and could use a lil more height. And my need to with all the weight of the gas and motor...

I built mine up a little higher and ive seen another build on a viper on here that raised his up quite a bit. Everyone thinks the same thing about the extra height. It will have less water rushing over the top that way also.

With the rear of the transom fiberglass already hacked off when I bought it I deceided to go ahead and remove the whole thing inside and out to make the new stringers able to tie into the transom with big knee braces.

Im concedering mounting the fuel tank like this. 9" up off the floor. It will give plenty of room for the batery and knees. But I wonder how much the elevated weight will affect control

personally, I think I would rather move fuel forward, than moving it up that high.. but I like the idea of higher transom/rear deck.... as far as the pipkorn concave stuff, it sounds good... got anything for a visual?

Here's what I ended up with at the end of the day. Finished and before pics
A nice clean Hydrostream bung hole . The two pieces of plywood surrounding the drain hole looked very well sealed and strong but I ground them out anyway for added security.

Instead of forkn over $100 for a sheet of "marine " plywood dad gave me one of these 3/4" sheets. I sanded off the black paint and discovered no fillers or knots. Just a couple of small nail holes that I epoxied shut and best of all its 12 ply!

Do you think 4" will be a good amount to raise the transom?

When mounting the gas tank keep in mind where you are going to mount the fill and vent. You will need that area higher than the tank. I ran into that problem on my daughters boat since it is a low sitting boat. If you mount the tank high like you are showing in the picture your vent will be spitting gas all over the boat when the sun come out
