1979 Hydrostream Viking restore thread
Starting a new thread to document my 79 Viking resto. Its going to be slow because the boat is at my dads shop 20 miles away while im in the process of moving. But heres how its getting started and going.out one day and here it is just as I seen it for the first time along the highway.

What you see is what what I got. Just the bare hull and trailer. So I did some trading and got a "doner" boat for all of the hardware for the Viking. It a 92 Cajun bas boat with trashed interior. But with a un molested 2.4L Mariner 150 Mag 2. With the larger 4 3"4" gearcase. I plan on using the 28 gallon fuel tank, duel rack and pinion steering, 6" jackplate, trailer, buildge pump.etc

Got the trailers swaped and bunks placed to suport the hull good during the recore and droped it down to the axle for ease of working. And did some cutting to make sure the fuel tank will fit.

It still can be cut a bit more and move back 3 - 4" more. But now at least I know this tank can be able to be used

Ya I know. Kinda wide. But thats what was in the bass boat and im wanting a large capasity tank anyway but wish it was narower. But it'll work out good in the end. And also think of it this way, how many times have we been really been close to running out of fuel at the end of a long day playing around on the water and hoping to have enough to get back to the ramp with a small tank?

I'm wondering how that wide tank fuel slosh will affect the drivablity!

I have a 28 gal tank in mine. But now, I can really do some cruising without carrying gas cans. With the 505 # opti and a full tank the "wings" are under water. Battery, oil tank and anchor all in outer wing areas of the stern.

Do y'all think I should go ahead and remove all of the flotation on the bottom outter part of the hull?

Yes from me... When you pull the foam boxes from the sides, just make a 3'' stringer where the inner lower part of the foam box was.
