Dont think ill ever make it as an English country gentleman——
Boooster jab this morning —- just a week after the flue jab that left me feeling like a dogs dinner for six days . Hoping this will be just like the first two.
Weather really took a dive in the uk ——- six inches in the north causing heavy flooding — moving south and threatening.
Clocks go back tomorrow —- dark at five —— roll on 2022— and maybe some normality in the world . All flight restrictions have been lifted for uk citizens ——— one day Sleepy Joe might allow us back in again.
France have detained one of our fishing trawlers ———wrong !!!!!! A couple of shots across their bows will do the trick—————Frogs hate the way the English have left the EU——- now Poland wants out———- soon ,there will be only the Germans and French left in the EU. ——- then the Krauts will bite the french arse and the frogs will send for the Brits to help them out —- just like they always have !!!!!! Do you know Great Britain is the only nation that does not have a war memorial in France to honour the fallen Brits ??????? In spite of the fact we bailed them out in two world wars !!!!!!!!
Guess AGINCOURT—- WATERLOO and TRAFALGAR really pissed them off for all time— and dont mention RUGBY .!!!!
Just booked my room at the BRISTOL HOTEL—[Courtesy of daughter Sam] —For the great Bristol reunion next June —— cant see me ever visiting any more “reunions”——- think this will be the last.

This was the little Molinari was just under 16’—- was a tidy handful on anything other than flat calm.
Really was unbeatable in the day with the right conditions . Hated crosswinds and waves . This one went to canada — Mark Rathermal had it for a while .

Sad to report ROGER JENKINS [JENKS] died yesterday.
He was best known for his mastery of the OE class —— had a Burgess and a hot Rude— took on the world and won— that was back in the day when there were twenty plus boats running at every meeting , and from all over the world .
He did run the V8 F1 class and actually won the world championship —- but he never enjoyed it as much as he did the OE class .
    RIP JENKS .

    That was the plan—Jackie—
worked hard all summer to make it happen
The rigid regulations of the FEDS made it impossible fly a high performance/hi ALTITUDE aircraft. without the modifications$$$$$—-

    RIP JENKS .
The first time I recall seeing Roger Jenkins race was at Bristol 1973. I am vague on recall if he was racing OE or OI at that race.

My brother later told me, Roger approached him and asked my brother to say something to our dad (Roy Ridgell) about support moving to the next class up. The thing I remember about Roger, is that he had the weight advantage (less body weight) over his competitors. RIP.

Believe it or not Gene —— i buy sealed packs of aircraft nuts and bolts ——-starter rings —-exhaust systems—-bearings and all sorts of things which are all brand new ——-simply “OUT OF DATE”. AT THE SCRAP YARD.———. Little Wonder parts are so expensive ——-in the search for safety , common sense went out of the window .
HOW THE HELL CAN THESE ITEMS HAVE A SHELF LIFE ??????????

JENKS first came to prominence when the Cotswold Club at FAIRFORD in Gloucester was formed .
Charlie Sheppard — Don Ross—Brian Hunt—-Paul Moxey—— and a few others got together and created a boat racing venue out of a no longer used gravel pit.
He had a music shop in Cardiff —— his father was a lovely man and did all Jenks running about.
First deal i had with him was for an 1100 Merc —-previously owned by COLLIE COULSON—-this was used on a 16’ Levi [i think] and called “GUITAR MAN”]. Readies were in short supply, so he paid me half in cash and the rest in a piano !!!!!!!He wasn’t too bad a jockey in it either . He then went into the OE CLASS —Tunnel boats that were running into the eighties . [mph] Lasse Strom was the one to beat —- he had works backing plus Volvo Penta specials . Had the odd forage with a König —- always tried to stay ahead of the game . He was good in the OE class. Won the worlds a couple or more times . There was a strong contingent of Brits in the series TONY WILLIAMS—JOHN HILL——MARK WILSON—- plus many more that have slipped my mind at the moment . Jenks came out on top, was like a bloody annoying terrier — snapping at the heels all the time .
He was one of the drivers that convinced me to start FONDA. Along with Percival and Spalding He was by then well into ON class [ although the Cougar tunnels did not have the same performance to match other boats ie; Molinari,Scotti,Burgess, Hodges, Velden, Seebold . [just my opinion].
He succumbed to the advances of OMC when they threw the big bucks like confetti —- we talked many times over the years ——- often confided that he was not enjoying his racing with the V8.
After his win in Pittsburg he told me he was done —— .
I am quite certain that if there had been a strong OE class racing he would have gone back to dominate . Bye ROG its been good to know you —- and the years dwindle down—- to a precious few - condolences to Denise — Dean and all the faithful members of Jenks race team. J.
