Bike racing is like that, today I know the names but can only recognise Rossi but can recognise the guys from way back and the same for F1

Just pulled out some of the old FONDA stuff that Parkinson sent me the back end of last year.
Looking back, it really was a monumental effort on his part to get a truly World powerboat series up and running . It was the first world wide series with races all over the globe.
Mark reminded me that it had 29 starters at the race in Lignano. I remember it well, I was the starter.

I was researching about the Singapore events and could see the Gov covered lots of the bills.
Very hard to get that today

Ah but you don’t see the bigger picture Pilgrim. We were the sprat to catch the mackerel. Next came the bikes ,then the F1 cars. Was a very clever move, and it worked.

I wish boat racing got 1% of what they burn on F1

Was it not always so Pilgrim, once upon a time before Pontious was pilot and i was a nice and pleasant young lad. There was a time when boat racing and car racing were two sports not very far apart. In fact even further back when my granny was a flapper , boat racing drew even bigger crowds than car racing.
But time moves on, that was then and this is now. But no matter how hard anyone tries, you simply cant change history, or bring it back, or erase it, it happened .
Just like its no good sending a kid to jail because of something his great grandad did over 100 years ago.
you either work with today’s people to make the world a better place , or stay in the shadows. One things for sure, pulling down ancient monuments and burning flags and looting shops does nothing for any cause except create loathing and disgust,
Just because celebrities attend gatherings doesn't mean they believe, it means they want to be seen So their image is not forgotten .
Who ever said “Black lives dont matter”, I never heard anyone say that, did you? Same as i never heard anyone say white lives don’t matter !
Of course theres racism, always has been and always will be.
Same as theres always been english taking the piss out of the Irish, or the Canadians taking the rise out of Newfies. The Aussies and New Zealander’s. The swedes and the Norwegians. The Europeans and the Polocks. Its human humour, something nothing can destroy Its something inbred into each and everyone of us regardless of colour, take that away and we we become vegetables, carrots and spuds, it ain’t never going to happen.
Destroying history will never change it, might help forget it, but it’ll never go away cos it happened , the good, the bad and the ugly.

The good news is I was doing a repair on a beach cast for the wifes business in a buddies workshop and a punter turned up selling tapes as in masking tapes etc.
He noticed a bright yellow piece of cowling from a T750, with decals and a number, asked what that came from , I said a race boat, he said wow do you race here, well yes had our first race in November last year.
He said great Singapore needs more things to do to make it interesting here..
Just need a few more like that.

The point system seems to be a fair system.
A first place = 9 points, and is greater than, 8 points for two third place finishes.
    2nd = 6, 4th = 3, 5th = 2, and 6th place = 1 point.

If I remember correctly F1 race cars had the same point structure then. I not certain today how both F1 cars & boats distribute the race result point values.

The boats were dominated by Seebold and Hodges hulls, 9 and 8 respectively.

The other 7 boats in the field were distributed among 5 hull manufactures.

And in 1983 the Paris race was still on the circuit. Ten years after I witnessed my last Paris race.

Powerboat is boat racing in Singapore popular? There seems to be enough water there to host a boat race in a great location.

What is it like when F1 cars come to town, and take over the city at night time?
