One of the most “Fun” people you could ever hope to meet.
Barry Sheene was one of the all time great motor cycle racers.
invented the throw yourself off style of racing for maximum adhesion round corners, that’s still popular today.
Raced against the top Americans in Kenny Roberts and Randy Mamola.
Was a Suzuki works rider and later Yamaha.
I gave him his first helicopter ride.
He’s got his own chapter in Jack’s Book.!

Today is the official “Feel sorry for Lassie Day” —Er, why ? For years he has slated Mercury and everything the company stands for.
Gloried in the odd failure, and scoffed at their success. Belittled the efforts of the beatings of the V8 the odd times it happened and flaunted the V8’s a gazillion times!
You know the old adage “What goes around Comes around” ? Todays the day.
Ironic that Evinrude winds up in the hands of Mercury !
Ironic that OMC championed the V 8 so successfully—— but at what cost?
Ironic that Mercury are now the World leaders in V8 outboard production.
    Do I feel triumphant? No.
Do I feel sad about the downfall of OMC? Yes.
To my acquaintant of many years LARS ( Lassie) Strom. SORRY ‘Bout your bad luck.!

Jackie: Uncalled for and unnecessary. Lars had nothing to due with BRP throwing in the towel. I don't know where people are saying Merc bought Evinrude. BRP made an agreement with Merc to put Merc motors on BRP boats.
