I am really so pissed off with relying on people for the Chesterfield upholstery in the Rollers I decito heed my sainted mother’s warning. If you want a job dOne properly ——— you better do it yourself!
Spent the whole day making a fresh interior for the Getty Klöndike. .
Had a modicum of success, but as my old school report often used to say, Could do better!
    I will get it right.

    Book Covers are eye catching.

I’m on a roll at the moment, a thousand words a day minimum.
Aiming for 500 pages. 20/50 chapters. Stacks of pictures! Starts in the sixties and finishes in the nineties.
Somebody else can start where I leave off! Kevin Desmond has done the history. Just leaves the bit I was involved in..
Jackie, I would like to post this photo of popular book covers. I complied this group which includes 9 sports books.
Three of the sport book titles that caught my eye are:
    Throwing Heat
    Run To Win
    Winning Is Not Enough

And then there are the photos or illustrations on the book cover, which catch a potential reader to buy the book.

Before the era of social distance, there was social togetherness.

Pruett ran the big boat pictured above in 1971 at Paris powered by the C6. Testing at Lake Como showed the C6 pushed this boat a few mph faster than the Twister I.
I think also Carlo Rassini teamed up with Pruett to co-drive at Paris that year - 1971.

A little clarification on some of the Models. I say models because Brian Dewey moved that engine cowling on the floor, so that you could read the Mercury logo in the photo. I remember him doing that, or had someone do it, maybe me.

Now the human models at the bow of the boat, right to left are:
The guy left of Welch (Willabee) is ... an Italian but I do not remember. To the right of Willabee, is Me
(Lake X Kid) wearing the light Kiekhaefer Mercury shirt, and the guy with his back to the camera looking at Willabee and me, is Giorgio Molinari (younger brother of Renato).

Carlo Rassini's son is not in this photo.

I have been known to be FALLABLE Roy, not often, but you must realise, that with age comes a degree of forgetfulness , memory loss, mobility . Good as i once was, does not mean that i have ability to still recall facts, figures and faces with the accuracy, dependability, and modesty with which i could once deliver. Sincere apologies for the error.

Was it really YOU that we Blooded in Montmarte Roy.

You know the guy to the left of Welch ROY, owned a little firm called Black and Decker, always had the best kit, but drove like a prick. Was responsible for getting Renato the Martini deal. I’ll ask Mark, he was always at Rolla’s, bought props ten at a time. Was always at Havasu and Paris, but never drove.

Came yesterday...could not put it down. You played a major part in that whole era of powerboat racing.
Did not know that you had worked for Hewes. Did you, by any chance, remember working with a gentleman named Dan Lynch at Hewes? I worked for Bob as a very young 20 yr old in his N. Miami shop during the 80s and Dan used to tell me stories about the shop in Miami.
I CAN ALWAYS MAKE ANOTHER DOLLAR, BUT I CANNOT MAKE ANOTHER DAY

No Jackie it was not me being "Blooded in Montmarte."
But I would like to hear the story of that episode too.
