Today is VE Day and I make no apology for being English and fiercely patriotic!
My father was a flight engineer in the Royal Air Force, he survived thirty six operations, dropping bombs on Germany.
I still remember the street party celebrations of 1945, i was thirteen years old at the time, my young brother .” Nipper”. was nine.

Didn’t forget Bill, damned if I could remember if it was ‘69 or ‘71 ?
I would opt for the latter, logic tells me that Don Ross and I were at Havasu together and there are no pictures of Don anywhere! That was ‘69. In 1971 I had been “drummed out of the brownies”” and gone there with Pruett., So the chances are, I was taking pictures of him at the start. Plus, there’s at least ten more of the start.
Would feel like I was overstepping the mark to print all ten !

How many times do we have to tell you that it's not polite to ask for answers to a question when you don't know the answer?

Well, I'm taking the point anyway just because I'm right (Mr. Neverwong) ..... 1971. The proof is the black twin with the motors spread in the center, left. That was Renato's white speedster from 1970, now painted black and driven by Petty in 71. I think there were two more twins with the motors spread in 71, Rasini & Summerfeldt, but they were both white.

This was the race that Pruett blew over the twin Molinari and tore his hip out.
Then I went back to the Nautical and dropped my pants, in walks this vision of loveliness, I exploded, she fell about laughing.
Fifty years on we met again—- Kathy Flo Smith is still falling about laughing!
I really should have remembered the year!

Billy Don and family lived in the same neighborhood as we did in the 70's. He kept saying to me lets get together. I was all for it but my wife was a little scared of him.

Thanks Jim and Butch—- the older I get, the more forgetful, accident prone and dafter I get!
Been using a huge trunk as a worktop in my shed for the last three years. Forgotten what was in it long ago, so I thought I’d better take a peek.
Inside are some fifteen or twenty full size”Concepts” I packed up ready to send to an old farts meeting and completely forgot about .
Cost of postage to the USA , was something like $175! Can you wonder I didn’t send them!
If anyone’s interested in buying about 100 lbs plus of Jackie Wilson concepts blind, then let me know.
Onthe other hand, I could reopen the trunk and itemise the contents, list them all and then ask for offers.
As Forest’s mum once said, Life is like a box of chocolates, You just don’t know what you’re going to get ‘till you open them up!

Butch, everybody’s wife was afraid of Pruett, mine included. I told her, just keep your knicker elastic tight when Pruetts around. His hands could reach parts other hands only dreamed of. He loved every female he ever met, plus, he was the worlds greatest “Fanny Magnet” since Rudolph Valentino! I’m not saying this for any malicious reasons, I loved the guy to bits from the minute I first met him. Was friends with him ‘till the day he died ( which I never believed could happen ) until Jack Stuteville informed me he’d died.
I was standing with Anne Curtis and my son Mark in St. Tropez, watching Stevie Roll the boat over when he told me the news!
I have devoted a whole chapter of my book to BDP,FBI . It’s very hard to describe Pruett truthfully, without causing offence to his existing family , friends and relatives.
Most exciting time of my life was traveling around the world with Pruett as my companion.
He cared for nobody, but loved everyone, could pick a fight in a closed room with a locked door.
Highly successful racer in both offshore and circuit.
one of only a handful of men who raced triples, duals and single engine rigs.
Rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous.
Definitely “ THE DON JUAN “ of the powerboat world—- Nobody even came close !!!
