First “SIDEWINDER” ever——- except it’s a SEEBOLD—— made for Mitch Lembske—— powered by a westlake v 12 Jaguar———— pulled over 900 horsepower——- won Parker at the first time of asking!
Now that’s some kind of achievement!!!
it ran pretty close to 150 mph——— with an open cockpit—— can anyone out there tell me where this boat can be found!!!!!
SASQUATCH was the first plastic boat—— powered by a V8—- Im told it’s hung up in a bar somewhere in the mid west, unless anyone knows different ?
Im told Mike Mullins has the original moulds .

Jackie, How did this craft run with a British motor and be legal.. But you had so much objection about a motor (The DFV ) that was made 40 odd miles up the road? Or had the rules changed substantially by the time the Jag ran?

You have to understand Phill, the APBA is the ruling body over here in powerboating—— In the early days of Parker it was a “ RUN WHAT YOU BRING” race——
year i was running (1979) GEORGE May was referee—— much respected and powerful referee ——- you just don’t piss about with him———- he asked if I’d mind running in the ET Class? as they only had three boats entered ! Course I didn’t, I just wanted to run ,!
GEORGE Mays son was BRETT MAY—- he drove the race with me—— not many inboards ever finished a seven hour race back in those days and in spite of mitigating circumstances we finished up some hundred miles in front of the second inboard!
Much to our amazement we were declared an “”UNAMERICAN ENGINE”” and therefore not eligible for the inboard prize——- think we finished around fifth overall due to some unfortunate happenings !
I queried the decision at the time but was told it was an APBA ruling and the series had to be protected.
i have no idea what changed to allow a Jaguar motor to win—— maybe SAm Cullis—— Rich or Roger H. Could throw some light on it!

Coming to the close of my time in Florida——- I’m in Naples today with the Seebolds——- Bert SERRA is them running me across the alley to Fort Pierce for the last two days with Mark.
Fly out of Orlando 9:25 Tuesday evening.
Always enjoy my time with family and friends in the USA—- weather here makes the winter a little shorter.
