Ah well, looks like I’m flogging a dead horse here—— might just leave it ‘till I get to Tavares—- sit quietly with a large Marguerite—- wait for questions. Something I’ve never done before. First time for everything I suppose.
Clocks went back last night—- come Christmas it’ll be dark by 4pm, never mind, as my sainted mother used to say, “it’s ok Jack, Santa can see in the dark”—- but she always lied a lot !

Keep the pictures coming, as a civilian I always look forward to seeing them. Here’s a question at one time Guido C fitted wings to the rear edge of his sponsons, might you have a photo of that boat??

No Phill, I don’t, first time I saw wings was on the Hodges—— First mechanically adjustable horizontal wing was on the second two litre COSWORTH—- took it to the worlds in auronzo. Gave a good account of herself against Molinari— Velden— etc!
Tried vertical stabilisers —— Trouble with the Hodges, it was a second row boat along with Velden—— Molinari was the front runner—— with SEEBOLD alongside and a Burgess almost there.
Loads of “Wannabees”. Including Charlie’s Bristol Cat never quite made the grade!
The “ROSSINARI” went into obscurity after the Paris race.
Shakespeares Avon died at WINDERMERE along with “ Shakey “
His boatbuilder DAVE Burgess went on to do great things with the Burgess
I had six Hodges boats in total——- on reflection—- I would have played it different!
Mark had five or six—— he’s of the same opinion!

Jackie, please expand on what you would have played different...

On another note there doesn't seem to be much info about OFF lately on S & F ??

reason there’s not much info my lad, Cos there’s not a lot to tell.
Meeting is scheduled to run with the vintage boat club from the 15/17th inclusive—— big nosh on Friday night at “PUDDLE JUMPERS”—— Look out for the rich and Famous—- SEEBOLD—- Stickle—- Jones—- Butler— Lasse ( Maybe) —- Rich—- Roger —- the Boyds—- Odelle—- Cadillac— Gene ( if hes not snowed in )—- Mullen— Maybe Rathermell—— Summerfield Even Benny Benson might get his sorry arse down there. Might even get Old man WARBY .????
Beauty of the old farts is the fact you never know who will turn up —— Schubert Or Rotory John Or maybe Ian Toll —— Peter Unwins over there but heading down to Key West.

First competitive two liter COSWORTH Bill Brown and I put together was designed by Freddie Miles, built by Dave Burgess, ( he was building MILES MASTERS for Freddie at that time) . Was highly successful and could run comfortably with the factory boats.
On reflection , I should have stayed with him !
THE COSWORTH THREE LITRE DFV Should have had a SEEBOLD hull—- Jack D’Eath ran one at Parker same year as me. Had a KEITH Black lump in it so it was never going to finish
It did run nicely but was never in contention——- politics gave him the inboard prize but he was a hundred miles behind——- Ask Brett May about it!
Boat I have alway thought the best inboard ever was the LEMBSKE seebold V12 Jaguar engined Hull SASQUATCH——
I could go on forever but you’ll just have to nail me at the OFF meeting in Tavares!

Two weeks tomorrow and I’ll be in Tavares—- taking a little time out to chill. Been a bit nose to the grindstone lately.
Bringing a Brace of the 1907 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost’s with me—— hoping a couple of the old farts might fancy them.Click image for larger version.

I will pick out a couple of the best ones——-
Turning left on the aircraft which means I get to carry forty kilos onboard !

Trying to get a trip down to Poole arranged so I can meet up with Christian Toll and see the wonderful job he’s made of KAAMA. AEROMARINE 111– DRY MARTINI.
You would think it would be easy—— but her indoors has distinct views of how much I should drive these days—- Poole is just beyond my limits, comes into the nursemaid category ?
A mere 220 mile round trip, I don’t have a problem with this—- it’s the other buggers!

Never did make it down to Poole—— series of mitigating circumstances prevented this.
Have made a tentative positive maybe for next Tuesday / Wednesday!

Have four clear days without appointments to finally stitch all the rollers together.
Do have a date with the dentist for the new fangs—— been almost a year and a big bag of gold since the treatment started. I am a little wiser now though, I always thought the tooth doctor was called a dentist —-WRONG—- we have ORTHODONTIST—— HYGIENIST. Must be something to do with the amount of money they’re allowed to charge——— no such thing as a “Poor” dentist any more.
You know the island President Trump lives on !——— five will get you ten a dentist owns the island!

Big envelope from Parkinson today—— all the fixtures for the Canon and Fonda series condensed int a dozen ish sheets.
Believe there’s fifteen years history in there——- all I need is a little time to sort through the pages and start feeding them out onto the “Tricks” thread on a regular basis.
Daren't even think what will happen if I don’t get this lot just about right!!!!

Sorry pilgrim but I don’t have any time this morning to go through the fixture list—- maybe lunchtime.
Im on the roller coaster heading towards Tavares—- maybe it’ll slow down just long enough to let me off.
