You ever see anyone more laid back than Odelle?
Just a couple of the living legends of power boat racing history ?
The 2018 OFF meeting at LAKE X FRIDAY THE 16TH NOVEMBER !
There was such a gathering of all time greats——- I might just show them time and again.

Cadillac didn’t make the lake trip——- he’s been around forever —— just a nice person —— usually at the OFF meetings. Has shed loads of interesting boats in his backyard on the intercoastal ?
It was his birthday yesterday——— hope you all sent him a hi !

That was back in the day when I was an angry young man, mad at the world—— Garbrecht and OMC in particular.
Both had tried to stop me racing in Bristol——- GG was still at Mercury then ——- really was a bit of “YOU AN ME AGAINST THE WORLD” —— best friend Chas had gone to work with Percival and Spalding,
( But this time he was earning money instead of it costing money to come with me).
UIM Commissioners were spouting it was not in the spirit of the rules although I was bending them to the limit———- I gently told them I didn’t make the FECKIN rules——- just Built an OUTBOARD within the rules.
Upshot of all this is——- I did have the kit to do the job——- twenty feet Of boat is a big ask on a course like Bristol———— I had more than enough grunt to see off both factories.
You dont spin out on the first buoy and still finish third behind Seebold and Percival with the wing hanging on by a thread at Bristol, unless you have something very special——
You want to know who finished behind in that first heat————- Velden- Spalding-Molinari- Hering —
Alf Bullen—- Jenkins————- that was most of the worlds best on that particular day.

You know what ——- Me myself bankrolled that whole deal from beginning to end ——- but with a special engine deal from Duckworth. It was never ever sponsored by anybody.
Bedford Davey did pay for the boat to be shipped air freight to LA !
Couldnt even get a leg out of Mercury—— Butler did get me a MERCRUISER SILVER RACE JACKET !
Rolla never charged me a red cent for any props I ever had !

As with all great boat racing stories—- “ you ain’t never going to believe this” is how this one starts.
Drawn a blank——- nearly ready to leave the car boot sale at Ford aerodrome today empty handy, when this damned boat leapt out at me screaming “BUY ME” !
Its only a FOUNTAIN——- beautully constructed and detailed—— but PLASTIC——— that’s why it was priced at only £4.
I keep wondering what the hell im doing messing about with Concept boats when I can pick up a perfect plastic Fountain for £4 ! Soul destroying !
Feel like throwing myself off a thick pile carpet.
