Thank you Fuji——- excellent job——- but I expected no less from you on this My 86th Birthday.
Well I got there Gene, I’m now officially as old as you are !
Yesterday Jilly took me over to Sevenoaks in Kent and bought me my second birthday present. ( BRAMLEY Apple tree was the first, but we all know who that one was for ?)
Will tell you all at close of play today what she decided on, but you can all have some fun guessing.
Today is the day we have little Lizzie——- so the three of us are going to the Italian in Arundel for lunch.
Im going to make a superhuman effort to spend a little time in the shop today, there’s several jobs I need to finish. Then I have to chase up a concept I send to my old friend and adversary Rotory John nearly a month ago on a super fast postal service “Post 2 Go”——- maybe they forgot to fire up the motor.
With a bit of luck I’ll get back to you later in the day——— meanwhile, have a crack at guessing what I got for my birthday from the Boss Lady.

Fried garlic mushrooms on toast for breakfast——- and five pills, as you do when you get to this age!
Opened a rake of birthday cards, still surprises me that anybody should bother to remember when I’ve had so many————- got a “WILD CHILD” pin on badge from some wag !
Another was a card with a pair of size 12 boots and the caption.” Dad, no one can fill yours!”
Have no idea why that brought a bit of moistness to the peepers.
Another of my kids———- ””legend since birth.
No prizes for guessing who sent the Gorrilla with “You’re HOW FECKIN OLD”
Got a feeling it’s going to be a good day——- you are all welcome to share it with me, I’ll keep you informed of how the day progresses.

Thats is my first birthday present——— A BRAMLEY Cooking Apple tree——— planted already, another 8months and I should be making my first apple pies (the ones that mother used to TRY to make )

You don't know me from Adam, but I wanted to say thanks for sharing yourself with all of us. I dd all of my racing on dry land but (not-so) secretly wanted to be out there on the water like you guys. You guys were all heroes to me, but anyone who showed up with a Cosworth powered tunnel... Well, he went to the top of the list.

So thanks for being here, thanks for this thread and i hope you have (have had) a glorious birthday. (Properly capped with a dram of the good stuff, of course!)
