Well, the plank was in the way so crac-o-sparrer (first light) I trundled into the shop and started on Boo's headboard.
First thing I noticed was Ivy League quality weevils resided here some time ago, they probably have week end cottages at " The Hamptons" or " Martha's".
Spent the first hour with the chain saw removing dross and dead weevils and shaping the ends ( I have a free hand of course, as long as I follow my daughters instructions)
There is something intensely satisfying about hitting a sawn plank with the 12" plane, to push it one handed across the grain and then down the grain, it kind of sighs as it slides on the surface with little or no pressure.
As you can see, this is 30 year old Ash with beautiful configurations between the boreholes-----filled them with walnut grain filler ( closest I could get to the colour).
Thats all your gonna get tonight, wrenched my shoulder throwing the piece around so I need a good nights kip.
Will post you some more as I progress.

Couldn't do much with Boo's headboard, don't think much of the walnut filler, so I filled it with white grain filler. Waiting for it to dry, decided to do something with the Fender I dismembered----used the Banjo/Breadboard lump of Ash-----bent and tapped a stainless rod for the mount, bored a hole in the Fender, stuck the stick back on upside down and suddenly it's lunchtime, then forty winks.
post more tonight, tbc.

Played about with the growth on the top side of the headboard, whatever I do to it, the damn thing looks like a puss filled carbuncle on a bears arse about to burst.
Getting too old to waste a week on a bed head that I know will not be up to muster and you know you'll be lucky to even gets a Father's Day card, should have carved pegs and saved ricked necks and a load of grief .
Took one of those hundred mile an hour Aspirins to ease the ache, so that's all for tonight .

Been up to my fetlocks these last few days, need to extend my working day, but that would cut down on my drinking time and we both know that is not going to happen.
Postman brought me a wonderful present this morning, solid ( about three kilos, to the colonials that's near 7lbs) moulded glass tunnel, if I was a betting man, I would say it's a Burgess or a DAX. But it's light years since they let me anywhere near a boat so do not bet the villa on it.
Long story attached to this one-----when I have a month spare, I'll narrate the tale and bore the pants of you yet again.
Much to tell of the "FENDERZEND" and Boos table and now this tunnel boat, Jilly booked a cruise up the fiords in Norway for May----been told to not to even think about the shop under severe " hurtance" !!!
Still whirling around on the carousel of life at breakneck speed,
WHAT IS THIS LIFE OF WHICH WE CARE
WE HAVE NO TIME TO STOP AND STARE.
without googling it how many of you out there know this, written over 100years ago and still hits home.
Get back to you tonight. J.

Morning all, afternoon actually, feeling like a dog with two wotsits after this mornings efforts!!!!!
Something I have never done is blend different polishes together, so took the cow by its bladder did the outside edge of the bed head in "Jacobean" and the main body in clear beeswax----what a result-----pat his head and give him a biscuit, have managed to get a hundred years worth of that elusive ingredient "PATINA" in just four hours.
will post you pictures tonight as I haven't even got half way through the job. J.
