Decades ago, I went to the Reno Air Races.

When I got there and walked around the tarmac, is when I realized these WWII, P-51 fighter planes are larger than I thought.

I watched the Spitfire doing its thing —-loops and circuits and bumps —-all the things you get in a 20 minute ride in a two seater spitfire for $4000 !!!!!!!! Seen Charlie Wolfe do it a few times before .
ME !!!!!!!!! Id sooner travel first class to Orlando!!!!!!!!
    ...agreed...lol. (excellent photo.)

FIFTY ONE YEARS AGO TODAY ———-i was sharing a room with BILLY DON PRUETT at the NAUTICAL INN LAKE HAVASU. Was around ten o’clock on a Sunday morning . PRUETT was jockeying the ex UP AND AWAY and was somewhere up with the leaders .
I hadn’t had my morning constitutions and ablutions, so i headed back to the room at the inn, settled on to the pan in the toilet and proceeded to empty my bowels . One of the worlds most underrated pleasures when done in private and quietly. Never bothered to even close the bathroom door — was only two keys —PRUETT had the other,HE WAS BUSY THROWING UP AND AWAY ON ITS HEAD AND BUSTING HIS HIP so i had no reason to be anything other than supremely content and enjoy the moment.
We had dined at a typical shack that did a DAMN FINE CHLLI [Pruetts words not mine] so the surrounding atmospheric conditions left a little to be desired . I heard a commotion and the outer door open . Was no way i could reach and close the bathroom door , my pants were round my ankles .
Then the most beautiful young lady with raven black hair and a smile that could split granite poked her head round the door . HI-PRUETT SAID WE COULD USE THE BATHROOM .
Afraid i lost it ,yelled and shouted GET OUT OF HERE — She just put her hand over her mouth and laughed like a loon . FECK OFF LADY AND GIVE ME SOME PRIVACY !!!!!!::””~~~ That was the first time i ever met. Kathy Flo Smith. Was a relationship and friendship that deserves a book of its own —would make GONE WITH THE WIND look like a paperback. But thats for another day —just thought i might mention it on this special HAVASU WEEKEND.

Deal i did with COZ was my 1953 TRIUMPH 650 THUNDERBIRD WITH 18 MILES ON THE CLOCK was in mint condition ——i first acquired it in a deal for a 12 bore PURDIE shotgun . Took a long wheel base MERCEDES truck—- a CANON camera and a dozen lenses + £ 3,000 cash . I had turned down £5,000 from Peter J. AGG —. He had the largest collection of MG‘s in the world and a great collection of 1930/s ROLLS ROYCES He had been trying to buy from me for five years , even offered me an MGTC in part ex . Somehow -we just never got the deal done .
I did do some deals with PJ AGG but thats another long story !!!!!!

Worked at a boat dealership in Melbourne, Jackson Brothers.

Shape of things to come ——look at the size of those discs on the BMW M 5. Massive with four pads per disks ? Must be quite useful when halting in a hurry.
Had a surprise visit from two of my daughters [KIM AND TRACEY—[BOO] ] they spent the day cleaning up the shop—then down to the dump to get rid of the debris. I didnt dare look a what they threw out.

DHL were supposed to pick up this trunk full of concepts yesterday, was informed it would be collected between 8am and 6 pm, which i thought was enough time for anyone to get the job done !!!!!!!!
was still there outside the front door when i awoke this morning 1!!!!!!!!
Cost of shipping a package this size is eye watering [i cried for a week when told the cost] and even turning left when boarding and allowing for upgrades, VIRGIN would never agree to a 56 kilo trunk as “EXCESS BAGGAGE”.

There you go again S and F. How the hell do you manage to print only MY piccies upside down ??????

Bob and Des were movers and shakers in the boat business in Melbourne thats for sure.
When they built Whalers Cover Marina it was beside the Marina I worked in.
It wasnt all as smooth as the story layed out, they got shafted by the guys ( Izzy Herzog and Mike Lasky )that floated it on the stock market.....

I worked for the Priestleys, Patterson River Marina https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patterson_Lakes_Marina
They originally owned the land Whalers cover was built on, then when Whalers Cove was in financial problems, ( lots of debt to build it) tried to buy it then within 12 months Priestleys in trouble and the owners of Whalers Cove bought out Patterson River Marina which had like 5 times the land area.
All this when some sharks got involved and floated it.
Listed companies are a whole new ball game compared to a family business.

Sounds a bit like dealing with petroleum companies —— i bought the lease to SOUTHWATER GARAGE —- nice easy going typical village filling station WITH FOUR PUMPS It did have a fresh built 40 x 40 workshop and a 2 car showroom . Down side is what was owned by TOTAL OIL. A FRENCH NATIONALISED COMPANY.
Had nine years of the bastards ——- bypass came and traffic flow ceased —- sales of petroleum dropped [which i was quite pleased about] so they upped the rent .??????
problem for me was Mercury side had taken off —— Mark was flogging used cars like no tomorrow , we no longer had to stay open 7 days a week from 7-00am to 10-00pm — it took TOTAL two years to beat me into submission !!!!!!!!
