From the better lucky than good file. I took the wife out fishing this morning. When I tried to use the trolling motor I discovered one of the batteries had exploded. This explosion happened while the boat was in my garage right next to my 2014 Corvette. We keep the boat opened up and the damage was confined to the battery. Could have been a lot worse.

We think this explosion happened about 3 weeks ago. My wife heard what she thought was a spring failure on our garage door. We went out there and couldn't find anything wrong. Must have been the battery.

We all try to explain things we don't understand------ we refer to them as "Bumps in the night"----- when there's a perfectly logical explanation.

Managed a couple of hours in the shop------my neighbor Steve Brough me round several pieces of hardwood including some sill Mahogany and an unknown.
Decided I'd cut all the nasty bits off the unknown-------minute the blade hit the wood , it smelled like I was cutting up dogsh-t-------was a really dark red timber, as heavy as ebony, but with attitude and a body odour to die for. The word "PADOUK" comes to mind, but can't say I've worked this stuff before it's evil.
I spent a full hour and came up with one sponson of a wing------blunted three spokeshaves and a planer blade, ----- that's it -------show you tomorrow what I'm going to do with a "profile".

Just talked with James Shepard--------he's running the Miss Gieco boat with Stevie Curtis, seems today the bear ate them. Lost a prop------and a motor, finished last------that's a bummer.
Plenty of time to pull the motors, find the problem------ pull another wheel out of the store before Friday.
Time flies when your having fun !
Mark and Craig will be setting up stall in the village tomorrow-------if your wandering around Key West anytime this week--------call in to say Hi at the WILSON CUSTOM MARINE stand ------- there's a bunch of interesting gear on show-------tell'em I invited you.

Taking a trip down to the glass factory in Portsmouth this morning--------Linda and Peter who own the factory, have given me special permission to root through the bins which are huge and full of interesting glass offcuts . Last time I went, I picked up three pieces of half inch bevelled glass in various sizes-------one of which I used on James Shepard's Cowes Torquay Trophy, going to be an interesting morning.
Anybody remember the profile half boats, pattern makers used to mount them on a flat board------usually Mahogany. Hung in the board room of shipping companies around the world.
Ive got one I found at an antiques fair over twenty years ago-------it's been hung in my living room since we came back to England.
Dont forget to pop in and see Mark and Craig on the WILSN CUSTOM MARINE stand in Key West, it's open for four days, starting today.

    .

Johnno, I sent my new address on the S&F private messages the same day you asked for it, but me and modern technology are not good bedfellows, so it's probably lost somewhere in cyberspace.

present day address is 16 Long Mead -------Walberton------BN18 0QG United Kingdom .

Let not a single drop of my single malt pass thy lips !

See that Tony Fahay is back on the WWS record run again------ he's been around since the ,60/ s ----- promising much, but always falling by the wayside come crunch time !
boat looks promising------but then again even I can cobble a half tidy concept together-------but the world water speed record is a whole new ball game and not to be taken lightly.
A lot of people have died in pursuit of water speed records there's a lot more than a sponsor involved in it.Click image for larger version.
