is it the blade from a tannery, used to scrape the hide clean?

I had a shop teacher in 9th grade who taught us how to use both a draw knife and a spoke shave. worked very well for shaping wood. Some people just have a knack for using hand tools like that. John McCall was a great hand with a hand plane. I watched him take the hook out of my boat bottom in about a minute with one.

Didnt take em all the way up to”SMITHSONIAN” level of finish, would have taken too long, and the finished article is not desired quite as much as a DUESNBURG PHAETON or a Ming vase!

Interesting that two of the blades are made by MARPLES and mass produced at the end of the nineteenth century to the mid twentieth century. now the last one is blacksmith made from two different steels. beaten and folded to produce a blade only the Japanese swordmakers are capable of making . Was a stone bitch getting the grinding marks out, but the degree of sharp is amazing.
Never heard of the maker before either JAMES HAWORTH .

Turns out James Howarth was a brilliant toolmaker, catering for the joinery trade around 1850. He also made EDGE BLADES, these were used in SPOKE shaves, ADZES and DRAWKNIVES. Two of the finest metals were hardened and forged together, Gave the very finest cutting edge .
The SORBY company bought the James Howarth name in 1933. Just saying !

Well Well Well. Could it be that maybe Lewis Hamilton can drive a race car rather well after all?
More race victories than any other driver in history ( but that does not mean hes a good driver).
Of course he did have a half decent vehicle. But so did another ten drivers, ( all within half a second)
But what if Vettel or Verstappen, Leclerc or Riccardo had been given the same car!
Wouldnt have made any difference - Hes a better driver than any of them !
Or maybe its just coincidental and a touch of the leprechaun that got him where he is.?
Why does everyone have to belittle his results. ?
You do not win six world F1 championships and 92 Grand Prix by accident .
I just hope when he wins seven F1 championships and 100 races, he decides to go west and race the American circuits .
If he does, better watch out, he might just bring some of that luck with him.
