Medieval French wood man’s axe—-often used by Knights on horseback along with a spiked mace during skirmishes with the English.

Done by a blacksmith using a coke fire and an anvil and lots of muscle ——fold marks are still very visible . Very tough metal indeed . Better picture of the face than previous as the sun was shining in the shop today.

Old friends passing. I hate to post this on your postings, Jackie, but you probably didn’t know this fella. He was 81 years old. He was my co-conspirator in a lot of things, especially the Caribbean Club races. Joe Colt just passed yesterday. Learned that from Tommy Chandler, another local legend and racer in South Florida, all friends going fast. Anybody that wants to contact me I don’t know too much about it other than the fact they’re going to cremate him. Joe was living out in Okeechobee Florida with his wife Penny fast Times never look back Joe God bless, Charlies O’Neil.

Charlie...Sorry for your loss. I know that losing Joe was like losing a brother. I remember Joe from the Caribbean Club races and from Lake Maggiore in St. Pete. He is probably partying right now with Kenny Olsen...

Was greeted with a mood of melancholy at the car boot on Saturday— Big Malcolm [Basher} had topped hisself on Friday.
Came home and Jill told me that Bjorn Christiansen had tried to do the same thing. He is my friend who restores classic motorcycles and did the Mille-Miglia on a ‘52 Moto-GUZZI.
None of us knows the depths of despair that folk must suffer before contemplating taking your own life—— there has to be a damn good reason for it.
Leaves a big hole and thoughts of what we might have done had we known.
Seems like everyone i ever knew has upped and died or is on the way out or buggered off without telling me .
Keep getting told “well—you are 91 —-what do you expect your friends to do—-live forever ?????????”

Sister Ange is here today helping tidy up the shop. Was relating some of my woes to her —- she reminded me our sainted mother waited until i was in Australia before she decided to pop her clogs and leave us. Apparently she knew i would have been mad as hell if she decided the time was ripe when i was at home .
Decided which trophy is which —-show you the first one soon as its done .
Dont forget to wish Brownie a happy birthday —-88 today [still just a kid].
