Number of Mercury Racing 2.5/280, 3.0/300 and 3.2/300 outboards sold

Does anyone have knowledge of how many 2.5/280s, 3.0/300s (PMs and Xs) and 3.2/300s (XSs) Mercury has sold? I learned that as of two years ago, Mercury Racing had sold 7,000 525/EFIs and was wondering how those numbers compare to the number of performance outboards they've sold.

Dale, do not have any kind of #'s on O/B sales but by the look of their new unveiling products one can easily tell what sells or has been selling for them..... I guess as a business we can not blame them especially if they need to run in the black!
IMPO, as for the O/B they are only concerned for the CC sport and fishing boats!

Reading about the 540 motor I would have to say they have a major profit margin on those things. Over 50 grand for a big block and bravo drive both of which have been around for quite some time. The crazy cost of inboard performance engines makes me believe that a high performance outboard even at 25 thousand would still be a hit.

Who would have ever guessed how costly motors would have ever reached years ago. That's a tough nut for the average recreational user unfortunately.
