I saw your setup at Steven's Point, and a racer far smarter than me pointed it out the steering system on it. I said I've never seen a steering system like that. He said yeah for good reasons. There is no leverage with that angle of cables up against the mid. There's a reason for wing plates to go so far out. Made sense to me.

Is there any way to run a 12” mid without having cable and pulley steering? I wonder if moving the cables to rear hole on the mid would help? Might have to have a custom wing plate made for each side to move the cables back?

The full skeg definitely creates a lot more torque at the wheel. You could send the gear case to bobs or others and have them cut the skeg back to what looks more like a 200 profile or a shark fin. And have them weld the torque tamer on . A cle case with a bobs cone and these mods and nice free ride guide cables should drive like a dream. If it doesn’t..the problem would surely be in a poorly engineered one off steering setup as mentioned by others. Looks like you could change the cable angle and attach to a wing plate without to much trouble.Good luck, sweet rig
