Got the bow eye in and the bow fixed. Will put some pics up tomorrow , going to cut out the transum this weekend. Then pull out the floor , which is dry and rot free, to check the stringers and core .

So what started out as a basic clean up has made a big change to all out restore. Pulled out the floor in one big piece , heavy and wet 3/4 ply. Then pulled out the splash well to remove the wet but not rotten transum. It had a large crack in the stern and found the stern was full of resin and was brittle so it let go. Pulling out a good yet wet transum took 4 hours.

Thanks for sharing, keep us updated. I feel no matter how any used boat is, you will always end up doing a lot more work than originally planned. Of course, somethings must be done, but then you just want everything perfect while your at it.

Good opportunity to get about 50# out of the boat, and end up with a stronger, better, boat than it ever was before.

Image - I was hoping you were going to go this route and restore ! There was no way this Viking was going to keep going on a simple refresh and disaster more than likely was in the future. Great project, your really moving along on it in style. Maybe your Viking could make a return to the Romp this year !

I didn't realize you were from MD. Romp would understandably be to far of a ride !

Yeah I was hoping to keep it simple but I have never been able to leave well enough alone. Checked the core in several spots and about 70% of it is bad. Basically from the dash to the stern is soaked stringers are mulch, money is a little tight on this build so may take a little bit. But it will get core , transom , floor , stringers, and repainted back to the bruiser or close to it.
