?? fitting on side of 2.5 260 horn w/hose to regulator

Have my engine apart for rebuild. Today I found that the "barb fitting" on the side of 2.5 260 horn w/hose that goes to regulator was plugged with some kind of gunk ? What kind of issues will this cause ?

It will not give you correct fuel pressure. That is the vacuum reference.

Only thing it will do is not lower the pressure at idle. Won't hurt anything and won't affect fuel pressure at anything but idle

Yep... The vacuum pull from the plenum at closed-throttle idle tells the regulator to lower the fuel pressure for an appropriate fuel-air mix at idle.

It is a nice little hack due to the operating range of the injectors.

Chances are the MAP sensor fitting found near the starboard front corner of the plenum is also clogged and is the usual culprit and will cause all types of running / driveability problems . If your boat sits for more than a couple of weeks it should be cleaned . I carry all the stuff to clean it with me in the boat tool bag ..
