Jeff awesome work! I'm glad the flywheel was clean enough. I will look and see if I have another one that clean. You have me interested in the Omc flywheel!

Also as a note.if you need a regulator Cdi makes a kit that bolts to the top of a 260 at the very back and if you get a lighter race type flywheel and go down from 40 to 16 or 9 amps you have to go to a smaller stator which isn't a large amount of money and to me it makes a noticeable difference.Nextissue u need to know about. These flywheels that are cut down really rum good and a must for a winning motor but all the ones I have drove vibrate a lot.MYSELF I prefer a stock merc racing flywheel on the stator and trigger motors .mind you that is my personal prefeencce. Stock flywheel is about 7lbs.

Lee these are new ,machined from billet alum,I use merc hub and merc starter ring then they are balanced.
    40 amp is 7 lbs
    16 amp is 5 lbs

There shouldnt be a problem on the 40 amp, due to the stock fly wheel is around a 1/2 thick on the top and does not flex any way. Merc has not made a flex fly wheel since the early 90s on any of its motors. The only flex one is the race flywheels, the alum will flex more than the steel on the 40 amp and should be fine. Plus its half the weight of stock. Wild wiley said his is under 7 lbs in his post above.

Now as for the 16 amp if there are any one who wants one built with a flex plate for rpm over 10,000 I can build one with flex plate. I have tested rpm up to 8500 on 16 amp with out flex plate and didnt see any problems. I will be building one in the next week with a flex plate , and hope to have pics up soon. All fly wheels that I build will be balanced before leaving.

The reason I started building these flywheels was to stop the broken , and loose magnet problem. The end result was 2 flywheels that came out lighter than the oem , if any one has any questions please give me a call 843 222 9498, or pm me.

Also the less weight spinning around the top of the crank will greatly reduce the stress and wear on the upper crank bearing.
