    pro xs lower unit question

I'm not exactly new to outboards. But new to optimax. Doing a prop swap. Figured good as any time to do a fluid change. My understanding is that the lower drain plug is behind the prop. Under the shaft. It's a 2007 250 motor with the sticker on the lower unit showing 2009 1.75 ratio lower unit. I've looked everywhere on it before asking this question.

Yours will be at side of torpedo, on the lower side of torpedo judging by picture.
if it has an aftermarket nose cone and you can't find it, whoever fitted it may have covered over the drain plug with filler. It Definately isn't under prop shaft from what your pic shows.

I'll be damned! Everything i read said it was inside behind the prop on these motors. Has the factory nose pickup. And on the side, just under that. The F n drain. Thanks

Verado case has side fill. Torque master has drain behind prop.

Verado cases ad the tm case both fill from the bearing carrier. If some work was done to it and the wrong bearing carrier was installed there is no way to properly fill the gearcase.

I'm pretty sure now, after reading up some. That I have a verado case. That's why it has a nose pickup. But the drain is on the outside.
