    Omc v-4 2.2l

    all- a while ago i started with the project of building a 2.2L behind the liner v-4. I do have the sleeves already custom build by LA sleeves.

    I removed the sleeves out of the block and bussy cleaning the aeras the be welded. Click image for larger version.

    as for the build up for the bosses I wonder if 1/2" thick aluminum strips could work instead of welding only? i'm thinking of 1" strips welded to the block.

    any thoughts on this?

    cool project!

    I would use putty instead of welding it all.

    Dont forget to loose the bridge in the exhaust

    Baja,

    any idea what putty would work? also the idea behind welding the 1"w x 1/2" alu strips to the block is that you reduce welding alot. I sure will need some good quality putty for during porting on the inside of the ports.

    as for welding;I'm using Helium/argon mix 50/50 which makes life a lot easier for welding those thick castings. I have an electric oven to pre heat.. which is a must!

    Splashzone, devcon, and a few others work well. A quick search on here will bring up a couple threads full of arguments about which is best

    Welding on the block messes with the crank alignment and its supposed to be line bored ($$$) to make it strait. Some get away with it but Ive seen a lot of epoxy these days.

    Its going to have to start as a V6 3.3 E-tec front because there never was a V4 90* E-tec. Unless your going EFI I wouldnt bother.

    these are the aluminum strips I cut . Welding will start later today.... after all welding epoxy will be my best friend

    If you cut thick wall 4 inch tubing to add the finger port bosses it works much better as it fits tight to the block and run it up higher on the block than you have pictured. Did you use a flanged sleev they hold in place much better since you are bottom feeding, that way you can leave the sleev 3.4 to 1 inch from the bottom and still have good support. I have found titanium epoxy to work best and have all the filling done prior to boring aluminum for the larger sleeve

    Racer- i was looking for tubing, but the thickest one I could get locally had 1/4" wall. The sleeves are flanged sleeves .

    any recommendations on the epoxy brand ?
