what was the order you did that, sqaure bores to crank, then deck to crank at same height then measure port heights from deck, then port ro did you measure the port timing via crank angle

Currently I have the stock 62D, but those seems to lean after porting mods?!

My intention is to run with airbox.
    carbs are midbores.

anytime you widen the ports just make sure you keep the rounded oval shape or the rings will hang and wipe it all out. there is a exhaust% to bore diameter that is safe but ive been away from engine porting and don't remember the formula...maybe some one here can post it..

The 2.7s are bridged so you really don't have to worry about going to wide

Tored my other 2,7 apart yesterday after a summer of severe bogging and stalling.
Realized that someone before me raised the exhaust appx 2-3mm... this together with bad recic valves, and a couple of stuck rings might have been what caused the bogging condition?!
Finished porting last evening(will post pics soon) by chamfering all edges to make them smooth on the rings, edges were razor-sharp in stock shape...

next up on my list is the rodslots and cleaning the rough casting in the piston windows.
When above is done, my intention is to hone the bores with my newly purchased flex-hone.
Right now the bores are a bit glazed(w/o scores), and I want to create a new cross-hatched pattern.
Anyone with experince of these tools? How much/many turns is nescessary(120grit-which was recommended to this application) fluid? Oil? Ethanol?

on the flexhone web site the have a doc on how to use and what lubricant to use
I would use fixed parallel hone first and finish with a flexhone to smooth the ports, and rotate in each direction

Best to finish port edges before honing. To get the best finish you need to use a key way hone, these are a stone/guide combination you use on a sunnen type hone. They have 4 parallel stones with 4 guides, they hone straight and round. If you use a ball hone do it first.

    Hi Racer

wont you get the sharp edges back in the ports if you parallel hone it and not go back and smooth them?

    cheers

If port edges are done first as mentioned and the amount you hone is minimul you will not have sharp edges. IMO a flex/ball hone does not leave a proper cross hatch to seat rings.

I don't have access to a sunnentype hone. I have a springloaded hone with 3 stones, and the flex-hone I just bought. On the other hand my cylinders doesn't have any damage, they are just a bit glazed.
Cyl #3 has got some melted alu below the ports, what do you guys think, will the flexhone remove the alu, or do I need to use acid?
I have had the exact similar piston-skirt semi seizure on my other 2,7 - on nr #3 aswell, is this a known symptom on these motors?
