Today I finally recieved my Rod cap alignment tool.
Hope I will find some time this weekend to finish the reassembly.
Is there anyone on this board who are in possession of the proper manual for this tool? The paper that followed the tool refers to a proper manual iot get detailed instructions. Unfortunately, my shop manual is lacking that info!?

Update:
Rods aligned and torqued, block halves has been put together, although had some trouble because I couldn’t get a hold of my favourite sealant.
Made some wooden dowels to stuff the counterbores instead of the different size fuel hoses I used during my last build.
Wooden dowels...
2.7 heads in place aswell, the studs worked really nice
Closed deck with 2.7 heads and custom made studs.
Getting closer!
I hope to be able to mount the starter iot make get some compression readings.Last edited by Captain75; 05-05-2018 at 02:46 AM.

I used this one;
I didn’t like it, was too thick.
I took it apart, cleaned it with acetone and gave it another try. This time with a much better product, after advice from a professional car engine builder;
This product is great! It works with gas, just push the lever and then it flows.
Finshed the intake stuffers, and gave the mainfold inside another round of sand blasting to roughen up the surface after final porting;
Stuffers, the cavity around the cages will get filled before assembly.

Can anyone give me a startingpoint when it comes to idle adjustment of these late model midbores with adjustment screw. Turns?

MRGS2 is a non-hardening sealant. It only takes a very small amount to seal. If it was “too thick” and squeezed out everywhere then you were using 1000x too much!
The “Black Gasket Sealant” is a RTV silicone product. It does harden (Room temperature vulcanizing) and will form a little bead that squeezes out when compressed. Ever how much squeezed out on the outside also squeezed out on the inside! That little bead will break off over time with compression pulses and play hell with bearings, oil orifices and who knows what else.
Something like Loctite 518 is a much better choice as it’s a non hardening flange sealant and contains no RTV. RTV has its place, but in my experience it’s usually far away from most mechanical equipment...Josh Peterson
