I've been told the power falls off hard around 6500 unless some extensive porting has been done.

My close to stock motors always ran the best mph propped between 6200 and 6400. You may be able to go a little bit higher with the work you've done I'm not sure.

Did you match your casting ports to the ports in the sleeve? On my v4 the two are WAY off. I would be afraid of cutting them back that far.

I opened up my block to match my sleeves on my 3 liter. It had equal amounts on both sides of the port. Not sure on my 2.7 yet, but hopefully it's the same.

My sleeves were all well centered, so I grinded the block to match the sleeves.
Another thing;
Pullover tubes, how would they be a benefit to me? Do they richen up everything? Even the mains?
I'm trying to get a snappier and more chrisp throttle response when using a bigger prop.
Besides that I'm glad to report that the mods described in this thread have made a huge improvement! I have got a few(2-3) hours on the engine now, and it seems like it only gets stronger, perhaps due to rings seating etc.
I haven't really tried the topspeed yet, I don't want to stay at WOT for more than a couple of seconds. It reaches 6000+ without problems, with a lot of trim left!

Reducing the pull over will bring the main in at a lower rpm and richen the mid.

Hello friends!
Break in is in progress!
I started with jets drilled to 0.071", drilled another set to 0.0669 which made a big improvement!
Next step is factory, non drilled jets because It feels like I'm getting close.
Ordered 64D's for the upper four cyls, 65D's for nr 5 and 6.
Ordered the pullover tubes 322812 aswell, as a possibility to rich up just a bit.
Hope this sounds more right than wrong, considering the mods I made.

This thread is coming to an end...
All internal job is done, break in procedure finished, maybe stepping down a couple of jet sizes further(running 65D right now).
Last touch; looks...
New paint, new decals, thanks to Garzon studios.
The backside is still drying...
I wanted to add "2.7L Fingerport", but I couldn't really get it right and got tired.
Tomorrow the cowling is going back to the paint shop to get the decals clear coated.

Thank you Gary!
It took a while to do all this, but when out cruising with the Mrs and my three sons, its worth every hour. My oldest son, Lukas 12, just loves the "new punch" and sound when you bury the throttle

Its hard to say, but I think maybe the motor is a bit stronger in the lower rpm range when running pullover #106, but also clearly a bit rich on top. I think they were marked 106, they are called 322812 in the list.
Mains are 65D, idle #48, mid #14, airbox with baffle, fingerports added, all ports and rodslots matched/worked for smooth flow. Stock compression. Midbore carbs.
Anyone who can tell me the size of the pullover size in the carb body, I am having a hard time with your inch measurements
