This might be something Racer could shed some light on . I would think when he was running these engines in MOD-VP that he had to run close to stock porting maybe he could tell us what the limits of these motors are and what max rpm's would be.

I have the mid bore carbs. I may have to send him or Sam a private message to get some help.

Thanks. I saw that post, but he only says the exhaust is opened up. Nothing about the intake side. I think the intake side is where a lot of the problem is.

There are plenty of programs on the net to find target rpm MPTA/displacement. The problem is knowing what target rpm to port it to. What I mean is I roughly mapped out a stock 225 oceanrunner exhaust port, the target rpm was around 4800 for ideal MPTA/displacement, but it would turn a 26 offshore 7200 on my mirage.

when I look at the cylinderbore and the ports, my sense is that one way to higher output is widen the boostport window and transferduct. However I don't think its possible to create an equal amount of area as fingerports would create...
I will look it up further when I get home this evening as I'm interested in this mod myself, the reason of my interest is that I don't want to carve fingerports, due to thin casting and the pistonring stop problem.
another thing; I have a friend with a lasercutting machine, he said he could cut me thinner headgaskets to up compression... How thin gasket(copper) will work on my motor before I will have leaking problems?Last edited by Captain75; 12-19-2013 at 11:57 AM.

Don't be too concerned about the ring pins being in the finger ports. There is a theory (which I am running) you can run the older style piston with the pins in the finger ports as a benefit for keeping the pins cool, and keeping them from coming out. I have not experienced a ring pin problem. You do have to add the holes for the finger ports, but that is not a difficult task.
