Capt. Please give us the performance gains with the mods you did. I'm interested to see if the rpms go up with the same setup (prop) as before.
I have been watching your project from the begining and am always learning. Thanks for sharing!

With a looper you can do more power with same rev range and/or move the power peak up the rev range

Finally I had the time to try the new looper in the water!
I was very careful not to mess the motor up, even so I had to feel the throttle response and I can assure you, I was not disapointed! This is a totally different motor the the previous 2.7 Fingerport. I will get back when I have some more time on the water, but first I need to put on a bigger wheel and check the wot timing with these compression numbers.

Tomorrow I will fine tune the ignition and the wot timing.
How much advance is recomended?
140psi, 91oct.
Won’t be running above 6600rpms.

I would set that timing around 16. atleast until you get the jetting all figured out, if you end up a little lean +140 compression + heavy boat =bad day, better off safe. I left both of my mod 3l loopers at 16 and they made plenty of power.. Dave

A little update, but without any real numbers due to break-in process;
Today I tried a 22” Raker, a prop I’ve had serious bogging issues with when running the 2.7 f/p powerhead. With this ph it just explodes out of the hole, running 16deg timing advance.
Timing adjust using the Reeves method...
