Thread: Looper exhaust porting

Drop into the ports while rotating... Isn't that the idea using a ballhone?
Ports get chamfered and bore gets hatched? That was the idea that I got when I did som research.
The stones attached to my spring hone are so long(100mm)that I can't see them get stuck in the fingers.

You are correct on the ball hone.
Spring hones have a tendency to chatter and leave a crappy finish.
You have gone this far, invest in a ridged hone or visit a machine shop.

So what you guys say is that should stay away from my brand new 120grit flexhone tool?
unfortunately I can't find anyone with a rigid hone over here, everyone seems to be using the three armed one. This annoys me, Motor has no scores or wear whatsoever, just needs to be deglazed to seat the new rings!

You can get a rigid hone off ebay, they're not that expensive. What pistons are you using?

320 followed by a plateau brush, and absolutely no synthetic oil for 50 gallons of fuel.

Send it to a qualified machinist ,who has the training, experience and equipment, may cost you more but worth it in the long run, just my 02 cents.

I will try to find a 3 1/2" 320grit flex hone then. Hope it will work with the fingerports.
Rigid hone is hard to find over here, sunnen can be found but they are way out of budget...
I initially asked a flex hone dealer here in sweden, he said the 120grit was the grit I wanted, it was supposed to be "within most manufacturers specs" Apparently I was fooled!Last edited by Captain75; 01-24-2014 at 02:00 PM.

Last check before I order; 240 or 320 grit? (Steel bore and stock pistons)
Will it work with the fingers? (Can't seem to find any rigid ones over here)
About drystacking: if the idle relief holes high on the sides of the tuner, and the ones on the back were closed, wouldn't that mean that no water enters the exhaust stream?Last edited by Captain75; 01-25-2014 at 02:39 PM.

Forgot an issue in my last post; pistonrings...
I am doing preparations to drill fingerport windows and I want to get rid of the old rings.
The upper ones are easy, the lower ones on the other hand are badly stuck, how do I get rid of them without having to break the rings? How about cleaning -scotch brite? Diesel?
Funny thing is that all cyls had 100+ psi with all the lower rings totally stuck and a bad starter battery...
