89 Stoker cornering question
Just how hard can you push a 22' Stoker when cornering? I have no clue how fast you can take corners before there is a worry about spinning one out but I hope you have to work hard to do it!!! If not I might have gotten close today. Still getting used to large performance boats instead of small flat bottom sliders. What should the trim angle be for fairly tight turns??

Call Al Stoker directly 714-827-7920. He's happy to talk about his boats and give advise. One of the best guys on here to deal with IMO.

I would think it will turn harder than you want to turn it! I have never spun out a tunnel hull with the motor trimmed under. I was told equipment faliure from the forces exerted was a bigger concern. Some of the big tunnels like to barrel roll, just sayin wear your jacket and kill switch.

After watching the COR video I don't think I'll have to much trouble.
I do like to run smaller rivers fairly quickly and sometimes it just gets good, you know the felling. I'm used to flat bottom boats that slides and require lots of thrust to stay out of the woods. This thing is on rails comparatively speaking (actually speaking) so I am trying to learn where the exit stage left point is before it happens!!! I love the way it takes a set and flat turns right now slinging anything that isn't nailed down to the other side. It's hard for a rookie to describe...
It's hard to believe a 2500lb rig will do what these boats do.
Thanks for the input guys!!William J.

only way your going to find out is put on your life line if you have one ,kill tether
go out by your self and start at say 35mph and start turning hard ,and if all is well go to 40/45/50/55/see where your comfortable before you try more speed ,i did this with my ss 20 switzer small steps is the best safety advice

The only issue I have had is being completely aired out and starting a turn....then when I drop the boat its not really a hook the boat just goes where I had the motor pointed, Scary. I always lay it down now before turning or straighten it out before ...dropping the hull back in the water.Calling Al afternoon is a good suggestion.

Dont ever turn the boat with it trimmed out, then cut the throttle...or trim down while its crossed up. Good way to get thrown out of the boat. Set the boat first, then turn in.

Yeah I'll buy that strategy all day.
Heres a a run up a river. The camera doesn't do the ride justice. You can see what size rivers I'm talking about and this is the wider end if this river.

The Stoker, like most Mod VP's will turn hard, but not until they stop "flying." If you liked my videos from the COR races, you can see I go down the straights at nearly 80, then trim down to neutral to cut the air from under the boat and make it take a set. About 3-4 seconds later, turn hard and chop the throttle...the boat will hook hard and then mat the pedal and get back on the up trim.
If you try to turn the boat while it's flying, it will just crab sideways, with the nose pointed where you want to go, but still going in the original direction. This does cut some air from under the boat though, as the tunnels are no longer pointed into the oncoming air and it may set and hook or porpoise and hook each time it porpoises down. I could do this with my STV at about 80, but if you slow down much, it will hook hard.Keith-
