I'll have to put my jack plate spacer back in if I go much higher. I prob got another 1/2 and then I'm topped out.

you could always move the motor up on its bolts to the jackplate, but thats probably why that spacer plate is the way it is.

The equation (rpms x prop pitch devided by 1052 x gear ratio ) has me at top speed of 71mph.

i never have trusted equations. the numbers i have told you are numbers from people running those setups. if you want more proof you have a motor that 175 hp at the prop(actually yours may or may not be you should look up where your motor was rated from crank or prop) anyways your hull weighs around 850lbs. Also your motor is a tad lighter than mine. The best number i have gotten from mine is 67mph @ 5500rpms w/ a 27srx(3blades). my boat weighs roughly 780lbs. the motor at the time put about 140hp to the prop. once you get your boat in the air it actually packs air better than mine with its extra ft of hull so it is usually faster by 1-2mph w/ the same motor. your boat can do a good bit more than 71mph assuming the motor is healthy.

That's what I thought to. I just guessing would say 75 would prob. Be about it. And about that nose cone low water pickup. It's made out of extremely hard plastic and is bolted to the lower unit. A friend gave it to me and it has worked great. I'm not looking to dial mine down to the .00 but just want it to do the best I can with what I have short of trading my props around. Im A workin dad of two, just an ol country boy. I don't have a lot of money but I have all I need and more than some thanks to The Lord.

yep id say thats were your limit will be between the case and limited prop selection. the good news is the trophy is one of the best recommended for a fishing prop for our type of boats. but if you ever do get a chance to get it coned id go for it.

Are they welded on?

If I am looking at the pic of your lower correct that whatever it is bolted to theeading edge ....I assume it's some type of cone. Could very possibly be causing you problems. If that is disrupting water flow or moving any that would play havoc on handling
Laser 1550 ...under construction with a serious weight loss
Motor 2.4....undecided on hp yet
