I'm new at this stuff. Iv gained a lot of ground but it's took me six months. And just wondering if my original set back would cause it to be worse. It seemed to help a little at the time.

Wouldn't worry about the torque tab much.....that other attachment might be cause for concern

Yea I took off the spacer. A friend said that he thought it would help with the handling if I had less setback. I didn't buy the nose cone but when I looked it up it said run motor shallower, increase speed and handling. Running the height I'm running it don't get water pressure without it.

hmm i have never seen anything like that. im assuming it creates a passage to the original side water intakes? its certainly an interesting way to go about it. what really matters is the water pressure. and as far as set back most of the suggestions i got was for either 8 or 10in. plus it looked like that got you a lot closer to even with the pad? how are you measuring that btw? also dont worry about the time to get onto fastbass they are fairly slow in that.
Also here is my jp. its an 8in. rapid jack magnum jackplate w/ 6in of prejack in the setup.

Nope, it's the most hydrodynamically unsound thing I have ever seen placed on a gearcase. You're very lucky the boat isn't faster, that thing could make you have a REALLY bad day. Please get a real cone properly installed before something bad happens.

actually something great for that setup would be a cle gearcase. its a case w/ stock lwp but its as short as a normal case so you can run it just below pad and run a chopper w/ it and they run great. if you do get another case(get the torque tamer welded on...) im w/ transomstand as well if you plan to do much above 60 that thing needs to be changed. its probably slowing you down as well.

Stock case with a cone will be faster and handle better than a CLE, plus it's gettin really hard to find a nice one anymore, most of em are beat.

Unless you're over 75 mph, you'll have better performance and handling with a stock case and the top two sets of intake holes tapped and blocked off with set screws and Loctite, at a slightly lower setting and a bow-lifting prop.

Yep so to sum it up if you want 75 that case needs to go. you could get a cone added to it if you wanted top speed around 80. the CLE would get you close but they are rare. and a stock case made to run a little higher that normal will get you around 75. as far as the jackplate each setup is so different on these boats that you will have to get to a point where you can drive that boat to wot. determine limits there such as rpm/mph/handling. Then immediately put on the spacer plate and see the difference.

When I chk my hight i leveled the pad with my tailor crank. Then I leveled a 2x4 on the floor. I took and measured from the pad to the leveled 2x4 on the floor. Then I leveled the motor with a square and small level and measured from center of the prop shaft down to the leveled 2x4 on the floor. I raised it a 1/2"sense I took it out sat. I'm currently setting 1/2" below the pad.

ah alright 1/2 is where you should start to notice the benifits of a nose cone, but if you keep it below even with the pad you might as well have a stock lower unit on it because it just creates extra drag will it is at that height.
