    Chine Walkin 85 Bullet 19Vee w/ 175 Merc Black Max

    Hello to all. I'm new to the forum and it seems really sweet. Iv got a 84 19Vee w/ a 175 Black Max. Runnin a low water pickup and a 26 Trophy Plus 1" below the pad. At about 5500-5600 rpm and 58-60 mph this thing gets plumb CRAZZY. Lol. This is my first hypo hull but I fig. it wouldn't start till 65-70. According to a math equation I seem I should get about 71 mph but I can't get 60 but for a few seconds. Any advice would be appreciated. Tks. BWP

    Solid engine mounts? PROPERLY adjusted dual cable steering?

    It starts chine walkin and gets violent fast, and I just trim down and it stops. I do have hydo steering but stock mounts. If I'm in a slow turn it does better but its just chine to chine at about 58-60 mph. I've played with moving weight around and have got it setting pretty flat when stopped. I've been told seat time will cure my prob.

    My 26 trophy plus is a four blade also. I have a three blade 28 fury but was told a four might help.

    Slow down on the up button, when it starts to walk trim down a hair till it stops and then very small up steps from there. Any boat will chine walk if you trim it to much to fast.

    +1 What Dave said. In order to " learn" to drive a hipo boat u have to take ur time to figure out what it likes and don't. Like Dave said u gotta "sneak" up on the topend speed. To fast on the up the boat doesn't have time to react and prop rotation becomes the strongest factor. Also u should speak to original owner if possible to c what he may say if possible. You have a great hull n motor combo. Also do a search on "chine walking" and read. It takes very small wheel movment to counteract the walk and that comes from seat time.

    Welcome to the forum, more great info here then you'll ever know what to do with.

    Two comments for you running a fast "pad" boat.....First you have a 'coned' lower and it runs best when you are 'above' the pad and use just a little up trim for best results and will smooth you out. You won't stop the chine until that coned lower is running above the surface at high speed. Try 1/2-3/4" above the pad. If you over trim the cone will pull your stern down and cause a 'hop' or slow you down.

    Second ..... you have 2 props that run best when 'not surfacing' so you need to look into a surfacing style prop like a used 'spinelli DR4' or even a Turbo lightning 3 blade (14 3/4" dia.) which I believe you can still buy new. They will hold your bow and give you better speeds and handling when the cone is above the water.

    One tip.....if you change to a hydraulic jack plate you will dial her in faster and never use a manual jack again. By changing height while running is only way to dial in for highest top speed and best handling since every prop may have a little different 'sweet spot'.

    Mr Nelson for personal knowledge I was thinking the same thing about the trophy but did not want to post wrong info. So I was right in thinking that the trophy does NOT like to be surfaced right? Also I don't think his motor could swing a 28 Fury ....correct me if I am wrong please

    ANY Looseness in the steering system will cause the problem you describe & you will never be able to "drive" thru it!!!!!
    Go back to the engine & give it a good shake!!!! Any movement at the engine will cause problems when you're up & running under power.
    Also having the engine too deep in the water causes it, but that's not your problem with a jackplate & low water intake.

    "Chinewalking" normally starts about 65 mph and if everything is in order, then it becomes an issue of learning to drive the boat.
    Solid mounts are a must to eliminate movement at the engine...... also check for worn areas in the clamp bracket. Hydraulic steering is great for cruising around the lake.... I personally don't like it for hard, top end running.... I can't "feel" the boat!!!
    Also, you can't feel the torque of the prop ...... so, as the prop starts pulling the engine to one side, when it releases and goes the other direction, then loads up again.... you end up with chinewalking.

    It can also be a boat bottom problem where one side has a major hook & the other side has a major rocker..... You will never drive thru that!!!!

    If you were closer to me, you could bring the boat by & in 5-10 minutes, I could tell you what's wrong with the boat setup...... If everything checked out good, then off to the lake for a test run..... Then I could show you what your boat is capable of running, give you a quick lesson on learning how to drive & then you could head home to practice..... Once it "clicks", you'll wonder why you couldn't drive it in the first place!!!!

    There are a few other issues that could cause your problem but are somewhat rare & not worth clogging up this discussion.
