    blown head gasket

was out sat. evening when i noticed i was down on power.limped back to ramp and got my rig home for further inspection.after doing a comp. test,i found that the middle cyl.,port side was down to 60psi i pulled the head to find a bad head gasket.just wanted to know if anybody has has one blow like this and why.to further add insult to injury, the ammeter was showing that the system was not charging the battery either,i know the two probably arent related but thought tit was worth mention.

They might be related..... Check the flatness of the head and deck before you put a new gasket on..... As for the charging.. the blown gasket could have allowed hot exhaust gases into the cooling system leaving the water-cooled voltage regulator in an air bubble allowing it to overheat and fry................

The manual basically says to check the Stator and if it checks out, condemn the regulator..............
