Sorry for the late reply Ive been working non-stop on our new house trying to be in it by summertime. Moving the tank back was worth the work for sure. The riding attitude of the boat s different and allows for less trim.I can run less trim which is making the props much more efficient .The one thing I wish I had done was to completely remove the floor including the bow as well as the bulkhead to the cuddy. If I was to do it again I know doubt would spend the money on newer lighter materials regardless of the cost.I thing there a few mph left in ours, lightning the bow forward the driver seat is something I may do next winter.Id like to get ours to edge towards 90.It all comes down to power to weight ratio. If you cant add power reduce weight.Again If I was to do it again id spend the money on a lightweight deck material.Even if it cost 2 times as much, this is the time to do it for sure.

BUT somethings never change and some problems never go away and just keep reoccurring !!so moved into Composite Forensics , Now that something completely new !!

A bit after the fact. Have you given using coosa instead of wood for the stringers and flooring any thought ? I just completely rebuilt my 96 Velocity 26' with spruce for the transom and Coosa bluewater 26 for the stringers and flooring. It's a lot stronger than wood, 30% lighter and it will never rot.
I made the center floor section removable to be able to pull the gas tank easily.Last edited by speeddemon651; 01-26-2014 at 02:44 PM.

Why did you use wood for transom and not coosa?

Spruce in the transom because Coosa is too rigid in my case. It would be perfect for an application that wouldn't see much beating, like a lake boat, or cruiser. Coosa will give and compress very little but not nearly as well as Spruce. I'm rebuilding my Velocity as a strictly poker run / race boat and need the transom to be able to flex a little.
As a side note, there were quite a few Velocity 22's racing in the OPA in 2013. It's a fast boat in the right conditions.

Ok I'm trying to make a new piece to fill in my splashwell, I'm gonna use a piece of 4mm coremat sandwiched between 2 pieces of 1708, what can I use to lay this out on that the epoxy won't stick to?

Get some melamine board. They use it for cabinets. Formica material on the surface of some OSB. Wax it up and glass won't stick, and it gives a nice smooth finish. You can also bow it slightly for more strength on the part your making.

They make mold wax, T-R is one brand. But for what your doing almost anything will do. Some car wax would work, put it on just like doing a car.

There is always peel ply release fabric also. It works well and leaves a nice even finish.
