I could be wrong, but I believe the Wrangler was the first bass boat with a high performance V hull. I bought a Wrangler in 1976 when I qualified to fish the Louisiana Top 6. Hell of a fast boat in it's day... had to knock it back on pad with the wheel when she started to oscillate. There were lots of people scared of driving the Wrangler, but I loved it. She was a real kick in the a--! Geezer.

I would like to see a XB Allison and a 20XD Bullet both setup for topend numbers with the SAME engine and see which one actually did better. Actually if I am going to make that statement I better put a Stroker in the mix as well.
There are also some otherboats that should be mentioned like the Storm, Blazers....they are some good topend bass rigs as well. I thinkk the fastest Blaser if my memory aint failing was the 202 model.Laser 1550 ...under construction with a serious weight loss
Motor 2.4....undecided on hp yet

Glasstream 17V was rated for 150 but there were a bunch of them in SE AL with 200 Mariners. Way into upper 70s and even low 80s with the right prop and driver. My 15V will just top 60 with an '86 Inline 115.
I carry a gun because a cop won't fit in my pocket.

I had a friend with one with a 235 Johnson on it, and a 150 cowl. He didn't fish out of it, just drove it around. I have no idea what it would run on the top, but man through the mid range, it would move. I had someone put a nose cose on it, and do some work with the water inlets. Ran a big chopper prop.

I think if you would put a 300 drag on the back of a Allison XTB 21 it would run in the high teens maybe 120s with the right driver

That would be very interesting to see what top speed could be attained? The bottom of the XTB21 was one of the best Darris designed (in my opinion).
The top deck becomes a problem with aerodynamics at those speeds & also balancing the boat for level running. That's where the XB02 really shines!!!! Bottom like the XTB but center steer & a better deck design for top end running!!!!Thanks,

XB 2002 has been 130 and mid to high 120,s lots with Shook driving. The fastest hes been with his record holden 02. Though 117 average day of the record with 122 pass one way on that day. He was hoping for faster as he has done so many times before. Tim you made him that 29 Hoss prop for the record day didn't ya. David and Glen Reynolds have been running 120 and 130,s in Allisons for a long time. Haven't hear of many other Vee hulled bass boats even coming close to those numbers. Bullets have been high teens-121 with a BB ,A LCB Tunnel with a 300X did 120-125 but not 130 as the Allisons have with 2.4 and 2.5 engines.
Tim an XTB, move the helm to Center with Center Steer XB02 race fairing and rear hatch to an engine cowl 300drag with a 29 or 30 Hoss Trition and let her eat!! Theres a new project for ya. That would actually be a very cool looking boat that could probably handle a 300XS with Bush mods and taylor mid with a real big wheel.
