Are there any advantages to running an offshore mid-section vs. a bass mid-section?

I was wondering, are there any advantages to running an offshore mid-section vs. a bass mid-section? I have a stock 2000 225 Pro Max with a bass mid and wondered about if changing to an offshore mid has any performance advantages? How about noise, is the offshore mid louder? Thanks.

I could be wrong here but I'll give it a shot. I believe the OS is louder but is also heavier. I also believe the OS is more durable. I have a bass on my 225 ProMax as well and was inquiring about moving to an OS and was told just to leave the Bass because I would also have to get a new trim pump. Is your bass can drilled out with the exhaust relief? That will make it louder if that's what you're after.

Off shore is stronger but also heavier

Then the sound really won't be much different from what I can tell on my two boats. The talon is drilled out bass can, skater is twin offshores.

You will not notice a big sound difference when your in the boat, behind it is different.

I was under the impression that with an Offshore Mid you also get a much stronger clamp/swivel bracket?

It all depends the boat and what your intended use for it!
Stronger can, saddle bracket and trim ram if complete O/S setup, louder and better/stronger lower mounts. If you also decide to use the stronger one piece plate you will need to make some cooling changes to the power head.

Performance gain 0
Oh, lets not forget the cool factor.....

Depending on the boat it can effect hole shot, on my Gambler I had a bass mid, now run an offshore mid, the bass mid had exhaust going over the prop allowing it to spin/ vent easier, now with the offshore, I have a harder time planning with certain ( Raker ) props. Looks way cooler, sounds way better, and will still run about the same with all other props.

I swithced to an offshore mid and lost about 5mph . heaver but less prop exhaust.
very loud. need a 1000 watt sound system ..LOL
