OK, a few weeks back I hit something hard with my Formula 370SS (middle of main channel in 75 feet of water) at LOTO. A few minutes later, I lost an outdrive. I called around and everybody was 6-10 weeks out, so I bout a new one and installed it with the boat on the lift, over 25 feet of water! 2 weeks later, lost the other lower and it also tore up the transom assembly. At the same dock I built a wooden gantry out of 2x6's fastened to the lift so that it would go up and down with the boat (18MM LOTO so we get some good rollers). The port motor had to be pulled up and forward about 18" to get the inner transom assembly work done. Lifted it with the chain hoist and the used a comealong hooked to the Captains seat leg to pull it forward. All of the work done above the water was done while sitting on 3 2X12's. We had a floating mat under us, but never lost a part or a tool. I'd rather not do it again!
