Anyone put a cone on an Evinrude M2 gearcase?

Since I am reading that the Evinrude M2 gearcase that comes on the new Etecs is way slower than the L2 gearcase that is no longer available, has anyone put a nosecone on their M2 to get it to perform better? How did it work out? Thinking of putting an etec on my Allison but I don't see it working well with the M2 case.

Would you be better off using a Sporty with an adapter? Just throwing it out there....

Just find a coned case and keep the M2 stock so you can put the M2 on if you go back to the dealer. I have herd that a low water pickup does not void warranty but the M2 will be slower then an old coned case.

Tried searching and didn't come up with much, if you know of any specific threads could you add the link?

How fast do you need to go? 250 HP and a coned M2 would likely be fast enough for me. That's a strong motor. I'd be more worried about the M2 blowing up from being surfaced.

It just seems simpler to go Merc/sportmaster.

M2 is very strong. I surfaced one for a while and it already had over 1000 hours on it when I bolted on a 15x34 and it didnt blink an eye.
