Lithium ion starting batterys
Any guys using lithium ion batterys for rec useage? I wanna use them in my sand bar drag boat but dont wanna have starting issues. My blue optima has done a great job so far! Also should i get a 800cca lithium because my blue top is? Is anybody using lithium moto brand?

I have been using them for about a year now and they are amazingly strong and light but I would be hesitant using them in a lake boat. Keeping a charge in them is critical, I can get 30 starts out of them with a 280 and 200 psi compression. After that they need a good charge.
A optima weighs 45lbs a standard 24 series batt is under 40.Chet Olson

Someone told me that they have a charger for the lithium batterys that runs off of the electricity the outboard creates. i have heard tournament guys able to go days without having to plug in.

I use a 24 cell battery from Rich Srnec and get between 30 and 50 starts on high compression. Antigravity offers a 24 cell that looks nice also. I've done the 16 cell Ballistic and they'll work but the extra 8 cells is only a an extra pound and makes a big difference. The power from a lithium is also more stable during running. My voltage only drops about a tenth of a volt during a pass, much better for the ecu. When I ran standard Braille batteries I had to run a dedicated ecu battery because of the voltage drop during a pass from the trim. Lithium allowed me to do away with it

25 pounds is measureable in 1320 if you have the means to measure it accurately.
