2011 Merc 300xs loss of 1000 rpm 57 hours
Single 2011 Merc 300XS on 2012 Bernico F-2 TS.
1st trip to dealer for fuel leaking out of fuel filter chamber overflow and loss of 1000 rpm.
Replaced entire fuel filter chamber. Test could not get on plane.
2nd trip Replaced Fuel rails found factory flaw in 2 fuel diaphrams. Tested on trailer fuel pressure ok, cylinder drop test ok, throttle censor ok. Next day Catalina skirace practice got skier up no problem but hit the wall again at 5100 rpm 65 mph. Used to get 78 mph with skier 6150 rpm with 25 Trophy.
3rd trip replaced compressor lake test with Merc. rep. lap top all readings good still only 5200 rpms. Stopped by shop on the way home for impeller change down a few psi from normal.
Next day another Catalina practice run no change. Running out of time my skier from Australia arrives next Sunday.
He is ready to run into the 70's even if its rough.
Mercury has been great replacing anything that makes sense. Just glad its under warranty.
Any thought? They might try reeds. They don't feel the coils or coil wires are an issue due to cylinder drop test.

[B]well, when I lost 1000 rpms it was a bad coil which they[ replaced under warranty. [last Sept.] just had a repeat performance last week, another coil and back to all good! samari on this board said it's happening to a lot of 08/09 Optis./B]
why ask me ?

Wondering what finally fixed this problem that 28skaterCa. had???

My bet is coils! My 28 Skater did the same thing with 300XS's as well as my 60HP four stroke. They both use the same coils. Sometimes the coil drop test wont show because they can fail intermittently or only under load. Merc. replaced all 6 coils on one motor under warranty. I always keep at least one spare. Check your plugs and it will probably show the culprit.
