    Velocity 21' 300x Prop Question

I have a 21' Velocity with a Mercury 300x and having trouble pulling skiers out of the hole. Running a Mazco HP4 4 blade 24 at about 6400 Rpm at WOT. About 70 MPH.

Boat bogs down pretty hard before it starts to plane. 4-5seconds of very low RPM before it loosens up. Any suggestions? Thinking about pitching down to a 4 blade 23.

Your boat if its the one im thinking it is,is the cleanest and nicest Velocity around bar none. For skiing just get a 23 trophy plus and itll pull no problem. The boat will run 80 once you learn to drive it.Congrats on the purchase Id bet the seller may have mixed feelings down the line I know I would of.

I had a 1985 22 with an X and ran a 24 Trophy Plus and a 24 Bravo 1. They both ran similar but the Bravo was 2 faster up top. Only had the motor on it for a week so did not do much dialing it in. I agree for what you are looking to do you need a 4 blade prop and depending on the load you will be carrying you will need a 23,24.
Are you running a Sportmaster 1:62? You may benefit running a stock torquemaster!

Thanks for the advice. Yes it's the clean velocity out of Gig Harbor. I'll give the 23" trophy a shot. Thanks again.

Bravio 1 ...pulls like a freight train (needs 4 pvs holes) and will give best hole shot for skiing and heavy weighted boat take off. JMO

If the HP4 doesnt have vent holes, that is what I would do first before buying another prop.
13' Biel tunnel AKA "Flight Risk"
    13" Modified Yamaha V4 - 101 mph

    21' Paramount
    Mercury 300 Promax

I second the Bravo I with PVS holes for skiing/heavy loads. I'd go with 8 PVS holes since you'll probably need more than 4 open.

If you have 1.87 gears you are at 10 % slip with the HP4. If you have 1.62 gears, you have 22% slip and therefore have prop or setup problems.
